The main of the flow control valve is installed in the water distribution pipeline where flow and pressure need to be controlled. It maintains a predetermined flow rate, limits excessive flow to a set value, and reduces the high upstream pressure to low downstream pressure. Even if the pressure upstream of the main valve changes, it will not affect the flow rate downstream of the main valve.

Working Principle

The Flow Control Valve constantly adjusts the main valve to keep downstream flow steady, even if upstream pressure changes.

Structural Features

• Dual-Valve Core Design (for most types like 400X): Typically consists of a small pilot valve (for precise control signal feedback) and a large main valve (for main flow regulation). The pilot valve drives the main valve to operate, balancing control accuracy and flow capacity.
• Pressure-Taking & Feedback Components: Equipped with pressure-taking holes or pipes on the main valve body, which connect to the pilot valve. These components monitor upstream/downstream pressure differences in real time to provide feedback for flow adjustment.
• Adjustable Throttling Structure: The main valve core has a throttling section (e.g., tapered, notched) whose opening can be changed. This structure directly controls the flow area of the medium, enabling stepless adjustment of flow.
• Sealing System: Uses high-performance seals (e.g., rubber, PTFE) at the main valve core, valve seat, and connecting ports. This prevents medium leakage and ensures stable pressure/flow control.
• Guiding Mechanism: The main valve core is equipped with a guiding sleeve or rod to ensure smooth, linear movement during opening/closing. It avoids core jamming caused by lateral forces, improving operational reliability.
• Rated Parameter Markings: Clear markings on the valve body indicate nominal pressure, temperature range, and flow direction. These guide correct installation and use, preventing damage from parameter overload.

• Check hydraulic oil level annually
• Test closing time every 6 months
• Inspect disc and seat for wear during system shutdowns
• Lubricate adjustment mechanism yearly
• Verify proper operation after system pressure changes
